Engrave a loved one's fingerprint or your pet's paw print on your piece for R1,500 per piece, or a drawing, handwriting or other custom image for R1,200 per piece (see handwriting & drawing engraving). Image engraving adds 5 working days. Words and symbols are priced in the engraving box as you type.
How it works
- Choose Fingerprint, Paw print or Handwriting or drawing in the engraving box on the product page.
- Upload a photo of the print, or tick “I'll email the image after ordering” and send it to sales@wanderlust.jewelry with your order number.
- Our engraver prepares the design and we email you a proof. Nothing is engraved until you approve it.
- We engrave, photograph and send your piece.
How to take a good print
Fingerprint
- Press the finger on an ink pad, or colour the fingertip with a washable marker.
- Roll it once, gently, onto plain white paper. One clean press: no smudges or double prints.
- Photograph the paper straight on, in daylight, filling the frame.
- For memorial pieces, many funeral homes can take an ink print for you.
Paw print
- Use a pet-safe ink pad or washable paint on the paw, and press it onto paper. Wipe the paw straight after.
- A clear photo of a paw print in sand or a nose print works too.
Custom image or handwriting
- A sharp photo or scan. Handwriting works best in dark pen on white paper.
- Simple line drawings engrave best; fine shading may be simplified.
Rings
A ring band is narrow, so a fingerprint is sized to the band and cropped at the edges where it's wider than the band. On rings with stones we engrave inside the band, clear of the stones. The proof shows exactly how it will look.
Your image and your privacy
A fingerprint is biometric information, which the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) treats as special personal information. We ask for your consent, and we use your image only to engrave your piece. We never share it beyond our engraver or use it for anything else.
- We delete our copies (the engraver's design file, emails and attachments) 30 days after delivery.
- An image you upload on the product page is stored with your order by our shop platform, Shopify, at a long, unguessable link that is not published anywhere. If you'd rather not upload it, tick “I'll email the image after ordering” instead.
