1 Measure a ring you already own
1. Choose a ring that fits the finger you're buying for.
2. Lay it flat and measure straight across the inside, edge to edge, at the widest point, in millimetres. Don't include the metal.
3. Enter the number above, or find it in the inside diameter column of the chart.
2 Measure your finger
1. Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, where the ring will sit. It should be snug, but still slide over your knuckle.
2. Mark where the paper meets with a pen.
3. Lay the strip flat on a ruler and read the length in millimetres.
4. Enter the number above (choose "around your finger"), or find it in the inside circumference column.
- Measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are warm and slightly larger.
- If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size in between.
- Between two sizes? Choose the larger one, especially for wide bands.
- Paper is better than string, which stretches. Measure two or three times.
3 Print our ring sizer

A finger strip and ring circles on two A4 pages.

Check before you measure: printers often shrink pages to fit, which gives the wrong size. Print at 100% / Actual size with "Fit to page" off, then measure the check lines on the sheet with a ruler. Each must be exactly 80 mm; if not, print again.

A closed bangle has to pass over your hand. Bring your thumb towards your little finger, as if putting on a bangle, and measure around the widest part of your hand. Choose a bangle 1–2 cm larger, or compare the inside diameter of a bangle that already fits. Cuffs and open bangles are sized by the wrist, like bracelets.

About Chrome diopside

Chrome diopside is a bright green, usually transparent variety of the mineral diopside, coloured by chromium. Stones over 3–4 carats are quite rare.

Hardness: 5.5–6.5 (Mohs)
Everyday wear: Chrome diopside is relatively soft with perfect cleavage, so it is best in earrings and pendants or in protective settings, and should be taken off for sport or hard work.
Care: Clean with mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth; avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners and household chemicals such as bleach, and store it apart from harder gems.
Meaning and tradition: In crystal lore, chrome diopside is associated with creativity, a love of learning, and love and commitment, and many people connect it with the heart and with compassion.
